Every word you say comes out in her voice.

Vellic is a small device you wear under the suit. The mask carries a mic. Whatever you say comes out of the speaker as your character, as you say it, with no phone, no laptop, and no delay you can hear.

Where the build is

Where this started

This is the first prototype, from earlier this year, running on an off-the-shelf computer module. One take, no edits, straight off my phone.

It proved the idea. It was also heavy, hot, and you could hear the delay. The hardware being built now is purpose-built, and it stays off camera for now.

What it is

Not an app, not a cloud service, not a soundboard. One piece of hardware, built around one job: hold a face-to-face conversation in her voice, all day, inside a suit.

  • Everything stays in the box

No phone, no laptop, no internet, no account. Your voice never leaves the device.

  • No delay you can hear

The conversion is faster than the point where you would notice your own lag. You talk at normal speed and she keeps up.

  • Built for a con day

Designed to run a full day on the floor on one charge, and to charge overnight like a phone.

  • One cable to the mask

The mask carries only a small mic. Everything else sits in a small box on a lanyard under the suit.

One voice, done well

Each Vellic ships with one target voice built for it. This first run is a feminine voice, for performers whose own voice breaks the character the moment they speak.

A masculine voice is the second run. Any voice is possible in principle. Per-character voices are something we want to offer and are not promising yet.

Who is building this

One engineer. I build real-time audio systems, and my own voice is the main reason I do not suit. Once I had a fix running on my desk, I realised how many other people are stuck on the same thing.

No pre-orders are open and no money is being taken. Right now I am finding out how many people want this to exist. That is what the list is.

Questions

Will it fit my head?

It needs a mask that seals around the mouth with the mic inside it, worn under the head. We are designing around one specific mask and will publish fit guidance before pre-orders open.

What if my character is not fem?

A masculine target voice is the second run. The first run is feminine because that is where the gap between performer and character is most often the biggest.

Does my voice go anywhere?

No. Nothing is recorded, uploaded, or sent anywhere. There is no app, no account, and no connection to anything.

What will it cost?

Pricing is being set against the production build, and the waitlist hears the number first. Expect serious suit hardware pricing, not app pricing.

When can I buy one?

Pre-orders are targeted for 2027. The waitlist hears first, and gets first access.

Can I hear it before then?

New demos go to the waitlist before anywhere else. Once there is hardware to show, it will be at cons.

Get on the list

New demos first, pre-order access first, and a total of maybe five emails ever. No name needed. This list stays private and dies with the project if the project dies.
